Where Pigeons once Perched! The Restoration of a Historic Gargoyle Hall Tree Circa 1800
It was an adventure for sure and a scavenger hunt like no other. With the permission of dear friend and owner of George C Birlant and Company, Andrew Slotin, I took some clients to see a mirror that I had spotted a few years earlier hidden in the most secret of corners on the fourth floor. They had a pied-a-terre that deserved this stately piece for their master bedroom and I couldn’t wait to show it off. Albeit pigeons once considered this gargoyle hall tree the landing perch, it was love at first sight.
